2016 China High Bridge Trip Photo Album
Guizhou Province
The special spans visited during the second week included Qingshuihe, Balinghe, Beipanjiang Qinglong Railway, Yachi expressway, Puli, Dimuhe and Beipanjiang Duge Bridges.
With a main span of 1,130 meters, the giant Qingshuihe Bridge has the longest span of any bridge in Guizhou Province. Image by Eric Sakowski.

With a main span of 436 meters, the high speed Yachi Railway Bridge is an amazing site to come across deep in the mountains of central Guizhou. The two 183 meter tall highline towers are the tallest ever built for the construction of a bridge. Image by Eric Sakowski.

The Yachi expressway Bridge is the largest span high level cable stayed span ever built with a distance of 800 meters between towers. The deck is more then 300 meters above the surface of the reservoir. Image by Ben Usagani.

Dimuhe is not as large as some of Guizhou’s other, more famous suspension bridges but the height of 360 meters is among the 10 highest suspension bridges in the world. Image by John Brignoli.

Puli Bridge is unique for having a a solid steel box deck that is much thinner then a more conventional truss. The main span of 628 meters is 485 meters high making Puli Bridge the second highest suspension bridge in the world. Image by John Brignoli.

Balinge is the first giant span high level bridge built in China opening in 2009 with a truss deck 370 meters high. A beautiful new tourist visitors center is due to open in 2017 with an elevator ride up to the inside of the steel truss catwalk. Image by Eric Sakowski.
