The Duliujiang Bridge No. 1 is along a mountainous stretch on the last link of the Xiarong Highway that will extend from the Pacific Coast city of Xiamen to the western China city of Chengdu 1,426 miles (2,295 kms) away. The new highway travels alongside the Duliu River for many miles in the remote terrain between Guiyang and Guilin. There are several other high bridges further to the west near Sandu including the towering Houzi River bridge and the back to back Wuzeigou bridges.

The two main spans of Duliujiang are 150 meters flanked by side spans of 80 meters. The total length is 864.92 meters. The tallest pier is 103 meters.
