A grand suspension bridge in Aizhai, Hunan Province, crossing Dehang Grand Canyon, opened to traffic on Saturday (31 March 2012), shortening the travelling time to only 8 hours from Changsha, capital of Hunan, to southwestern Chinese municipality of Chongqing. Aizhai Suspension Bridge is the largest steel hanging bridge crossing the canyon in the world. It is 355 meters high from the bottom of the Dehang Grand Canyon, and has a main span of 1,176 meters.
