The Hanjiatuo Yangtze River Railway Bridge is one of the earlier large scale cable stayed bridges to be built across the Yangtze River 3 Gorges reservoir. The crossing is part of the double track Yu-Li Railway line near Fuling and Chongqing city that connects to nearby Hubei Province. Completed in 2013, it is now possible to travel by rail from Shanghai to Chongqing in just 8 hours.

Also on the route to the west are two of the most spectacular bridges that cross over the Caijiagou and Xinqiao creeks that rank among the largest railway viaducts on earth.
