Hejiang Yangtze River Bridge
Hejiang Yangtze River Bridge
合江长江二桥
Hejiang, Sichuan, China
344 feet high / 105 meters high
1,378 foot span / 420 meter span
2013
The G93 expressway crosses the Yangtze River on several long span bridges between Chongqing City and Chengdu. The Hejiang Bridge is the highest of them due to a high bluff on the west side that required a long, rising ascent from the more shallow east side. The heavy concentration of east side approach spans can be seen in the span configuration of 12x50 +8x30 +77+133+420+133+77 meters. The west tower is also one of the tallest of any bridge upstream of Chongqing city at 208 meters.
Initially referred to as Hejiang Bridge 2, the number two is essentially no longer applicable since the giant 500 meter arch downstream was called the Bosideng Bridge after they were both completed in 2013.
