Built in advance of the construction of the giant Dongzhuang Dam over the Jinghe River, this suspension footbridge is a substantial structure open to the public that might become a permanent footbridge once the giant dam is complete several hundred meters upstream. The front row view of the dam face and the 200 meter vertical cliffs of the abyss-like Jing River gorge should continue to make this one of the most amazing scenic spots in all of Shaanxi Province.

Construction has now started on a 2-lane, Y-shaped steel through arch with a span of 220 meters.
Access paths have been cut into the cliffs for the preparation of the dam.
