Jinshajiang Bridge Kahaluo is one of the few long span suspension bridges to cross China's famous Jinshajiang River which is the name of the upper reaches of the Yangtze. The 1,030 meter main span consists of a 28 meter wide truss that is 7 meters deep. The total structure is 1,817 meters long and is connected to the G4216 Yibin to Panzhihua Expressway via a spur exit road. The short route allows the city of Huanghuazhen in Yunnan Province to easily access the Sichuan Expressway.

The deck of the Jinshajiang Bridge Kahaluo is approximately 110 meters above the reservoir that was formed by the giant Xiluodu Dam. With a height of 285.5 meters, Xiluodu is among the 5 tallest concrete dams in the world and is located on the border of Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces 50 kilometers downstream from the Jinshajiang Bridge Kahaluo.

The G4216 Yibin to Panzhihua Expressway is the greatest high bridge route in all of Sichuan Province with more than a dozen spans over 100 meters high. The route is also unique for having more large span arch bridges than any other highway on earth with a total of seven. These massive concrete and CFST arches include Xi'ninghe, Liutonghe, Shangwujiao, Xisujiaohe, Yuewulada, Siguxi and Daheba Bridges.
