The Jinshajiang Bridge Nan'an crosses a gooseneck turn along the famous Chinese river that becomes the Yangtze River in nearby Yibin City. The Jinsha River reservoir is over 75 meters deep to the old river surface in this location from the completion of the giant Xiangjiaba Dam across the river 70 kilometers downstream to the east.
The 200 meter main beam span of the Jinshajiang Bridge Nan'an replaced a lower level arch bridge that is now hidden underwater.
The area is home to 10 high bridges that have all been partially submerged in the reservoir including Xi'ninghe Bridge, the local route X163 Xi'ninghe Bridge, the S307 Xi'ninghe Bridge, Dahegou, Daqiaoxiang, Jinshajiang Bridge Xinshi, Jinshajiang Nan'an Bridge, Zhongduhe Expressway Bridge, Zhongduhe G213 Bridge and the Yangliuba Bridge.
