With a symmetrical T-shaped profile, the stylish Kamiiwato bridge is another high flying beam bridge in the Takachiho Gorge region of Japan’s Miyazaki prefecture. The central pier is either 111 or 104 meters tall making it one of the tallest in Japan. The two main spans are 443 feet (135 mtrs).

Takachiho Gorge has become a region with more high bridges than any other single location in Japan. These include the Takachiho Railway bridge, the Shintotakachiho, Tensho and Aoba concrete arches and the Ryuten, Unkai and Seiun steel arches. All 8 bridges are more than 328 feet (100 mtrs) in height. If you have just one day to visit high bridges in Japan, Takachiho gorge is the place to be!
