Located along the Chongqing Wushan to Fengjie segment of the G42 expressway that cuts through the 3 Gorges region along the north side of the Yangtze River, the Longdong River Bridge has a continuous prestressed concrete - rigid frame main span configuration of 95 +180 +95 meters plus 3 approach spans of 30 meters. The deep river gorge bridge is one of many along the 4-lane route that also includes the spectacular Daninghe arch and Shennongxi cable stayed bridges.

The road deck width for each of the two parallel bridges is 12.25 meters at the deck level and 6.5 meters wide along the box beam underneath. The box beam depth is 12.25 meters deep at the piers and 2.875 meters at the ends.
