Located next to the more famous Metlac Railway Bridge, the Metlac highway crossing rises 420 feet (128 mtrs) above the river. A large central steel girder span carries 4 lanes over the deep gorge. The bridge remained Mexico’s highest road bridge until the 1993 opening of Mezcala Bridge on the Mexico City-Acapulco highway.
