The Ryuten steel arch bridge is one of 8 bridges that exceed 328 feet (100 mtrs) within the Takachiho Gorge region of Japan’s Miyazaki prefecture. With a span of 656 feet (200 mtrs), the arch connects the small villages of Ohito and Miyamizu. The name Ryuten means ‘Dragon of Heaven’.

The other 100 meter monsters in the area include the highest railway bridge in Japan over the Takachiho gorge as well as the Tensho, Shintotakachiho and Aoba concrete arches, the Unkai and Seiun steel arches and the Kamiiwato concrete beam bridge. If you have just one day to visit high bridges in Japan, Takachiho gorge is the place to be!
