One of the highest pedestrian spans in Nepal, the 247 meter long Samrong Khola Footbridge was completed in 2018 to improve access to the popular Annapurna Base Camp tourist area. The center of the main span cables sag 14.5 meters below the level of the two anchorages. Dozens of local workers carried the steel cable ropes to the construction site along trails as there was no road access.

Narayan Gurung of Kadoorie was the engineer and technical director of the Samrong Khola Footbridge as well as others throughout Nepal.

Nepal has a number of high footbridges including 4 spectacular crossings within the city of Kushma that all exceed 100 meters in height and more then 300 meters in length.
