The Shandiang gorge has a steep V-shape requiring tunnels on both ends of the 611 meter long structure. The tallest pier measures 127.6 meters and supports a main span of 200 meters. The deck is 208 meters above the old river level and several meters less from the surface of a shallow reservoir created by a small downstream dam.
