Wujiang Bridge Nanmudu
乌江特大桥
Nanmuduzhen, Guizhou, China
656 feet high / 200 meters high
1,050 foot span / 320 meter span
2018

The Wujiang Nanmudu Bridge is significant for being the first 6-lane high level bridge in the world to exceed 100 meters in height. If measured to the original level of the Wujiang River this 37.6 meter wide cable stayed crossing is actually a full 200 meters high. The giant Goupitan reservoir has formed a partial lake under the bridge that can reduce the height to only meters if the reservoir is at the full elevation level of meters.

Supporting this extra fat road deck are two concrete towers that were constructed 197 and 143 meters tall. The south side tower is the more interesting of the two with the pier placement partially hidden behind a mini-mountain of limestone rock that rises straight up from the lake.

The newer, high capacity Guizun expressway parallels the older G75 from Guiyang city to Zunyi city.
