Wujiang Goupitan Dam Bridge
乌江皮滩坝大桥
Dawujiangzhen, Guizhou, China
(394) feet high / (120) meters high
(558) foot span / (170) meter span
2006?
Built to assist in the construction of the massive Goupitan Dam, this 2-lane prestressed beam bridge is just one of nearly a dozen high bridges that cross the mighty Wujiang River. No other river on earth has a greater collection of high bridges except for the Beipanjiang. The Wujiang is a tributary of the Yangtze River.
The Goupitan Dam is one of the tallest in China with a height of 232.5 meters. The dam became operational in 2009 and was completed in 2011.
The single lane suspension bridge has a large main span of approximately 270 meters.
A satellite image of the Goupitan Dam area under construction. The suspension bridge can be seen in the middle with the beam bridge to the right.
