The second of two very high prestressed continuous rigid-frame bridges along the Gui-Bi Highway from Guiyang to Bijie, Wuxi bridge is the smaller of the two. Best described as a museum of high Chinese bridges, the Gui-Bi highway is located near the city of Guiyang in China’s western province of Guizhou. In addition to Wuxi, this 100 mile (161 km) stretch of 2-lane highway contains Liuguanghe, the highest beam bridge on earth crossing 975 feet (297 meters) above the Wujiang river as well as 2 suspension bridges, one 715 feet (218) and one 600 feet (183 mtr) high plus two arches, 380 feet (116 mtr) and 360 feet (110 mtrs) high. Outside of China, there is no other 100 mile (161 km) stretch of highway on earth to have so many high bridges.

Upon first glance, Wuxi bridge might not look 600 feet (183 meters) high but the river valley drops precipitously into a tight little gorge beneath the center of the bridge. There is a pullout on the east side where you can walk out to the center of the bridge and take in the view. There are no roads of any kind leading down into the valley.
