 The Luojiaohe suspension bridge on the Guibi Highway is one of many high bridges along the 2-lane Guiyang to Bijie route in China’s Guizhou Province.  The road is best described as a museum of early high Chinese bridges that also includes Liuguanghe, the highest beam bridge on earth.

-The Luojiaohe Bridge parking area has become a storage yard for the many cars that have been involved in head on collisions.  The Gui-bi highway has become incredibly dangerous with only 2 lanes and no way to pass slow moving trucks without going into oncoming traffic.  All Chinese highways should have a breakdown lane to allow passing on the right (yes this is ok to do in China) or make them all 4 lane divided highways as they have been doing since the Gui-Bi opened in 2001.  In the meantime the Gui-bi will continue to be a horribly dangerous and often slow highway that should be avoided if possible.  Image by Eric Sakowski / HighestBridges.com
