Located in the northeastern region of China’s Yunnan province, the Niulanjiang River flows north until it empties into the Yangtze River on the border of Sichuan province. As the highest bridge structure on the new 2-lane Zhaodai highway between Kunming and Zhaotong, the towering Niulan River concrete beam bridge crosses 541 feet (165 mtrs) above the V-shaped river gorge about 150 miles (241 km) north of Kunming.

Breaking with the traditional twin tower piers of most Chinese beam bridges, each of the two main piers of the Niu Lan rise as one solid, continuous box. One end of the bridge terminates into a tunnel.

The Niulanjiang bridge is one of 4 massive continuous rigid-frame bridges that opened in Western China’s Yunnan province between 2003 and 2009. Three of the bridges are similar in height while only the Honghe bridge carries 4 lanes of traffic.

位于中国云南东北部地区，牛栏江流向北方直到在四川省边境处汇入长江。作为从昆明到昭通的新建2车道高速公路上的最高的桥梁，高耸的牛栏江混凝土梁桥，在昆明以北大概150英里（241公里）处的V型河谷之上跨越了165米。

和中国绝大多数梁桥拥有传统的一组高耸桥墩，牛栏江大桥的两个主墩都是连接着一个实心的连续箱梁。大桥的一端与隧道直接相连。

牛栏江大桥是中国西部省份云南在2003年至2009年之间建成通车的四座特大连续刚构桥之一。其他三座在高度上也类似，但仅有红河大桥是四车道。
