Yunzhiduan Elevator is the last of many amazing sights along the Shimenhe gorge scenic area. Several kilometers of cliffwalks soar above the deep canyon from the upper parking area at the Yunzhiduan Glass Footbridge to the 2-lane Mengxiang road bridge that marks the end of the hike.

The region saw it's first high bridge when the nearby Yesanhe arch bridge opened in 1977 and became the first bridge in China to surpass 100 meters in height. That was followed in later years by the Yesanhe G50 Expressway Bridge, the Yesanhe Railway Bridge and the Yesanhe Pipeline Bridge.

The Shimenhe gorge's lower level footbridges include the Buyun, Tiandi and Motanyunqiao Footbridges that cross the Shimen River.

An elevator into the Shimen River gorge opened several years later at the east end of the canyon.

The Buyun footbridge over the Shimen River located just upstream of the glass footbridge.
