Fenglai Bridge is the greatest all steel truss arch bridge in the world with a main span of 580 meters. Among all arch bridges, only the concrete Tian'e Longtan Bridge is longer with a span of 600 meters. The Fenglai Bridge is also the only bridge in Chongqing Province to be more than 300 meters high.

The 1,136.7 meter long structure has a central arch with a span to rise ratio of 5:1 making for a rise of 116 meters. The foundation piles are 2.2 meters in diameter.

The deep gorge of the Daxi River was the largest obstacle to overcome on the Wuliang Expressway that starts at the Yankou Tunnel of the G69 Nanfu Expressway and ends at the Nanliang Expressway.
