Located just 2 miles (3.2 kms) east of the more famous Talübergang Lavant viaduct, the Bernbachbrücke is another towering prestressed concrete beam bridge. Curving into one of the many gullies along Austria’s mountainous A2 motorway, the twin bridges follow a radius of 1,969 feet (600 mtrs). The tallest piers are 292 feet (89 mtrs) and support single cell box beams with a maximum depth of 18 feet (5.5 mtrs). Construction was by the balanced cantilever method.
