3ColdSpringBridge.JPG

The highest arch bridge in the U.S. state of California, the Cold Spring Canyon bridge crosses a tree-filled ravine north of Santa Barbara. Two large steel box beam ribs support a 2-lane roadway 400 feet (122 mtrs) high. Controversy has recently arisen over how to deal with a suicide rate of one person per year since the bridge opened in 1963 with nearly 5 in the last year alone. Some suggest barriers or nets while others feel it should stay as it is.
