Introd Bridge
Introd Bridge
Ponte di Introd
Saint-Pierre, Aosta Valley, Italy
(262) feet high / (80) meters high
112 foot span / 34 meter span
1916
Introd Bridge opened in 2016 as Italy's second highest road bridge with a 34 meter long stone arch spanning 80 meters above the Introd River. Today there are dozens of higher bridges in Italy but few can match the charm of this classic stone arch adjacent to a gorgeous natural waterfall that drops into the seemingly endless abyss of the Introd gorge.
The "new" Introd Bridge replaces an 1827 span though it is unclear if the old crossing location was different. Half a kilometer downstream of the stone arch is a concrete arch water pipeline span that may also be 80 meters high.
