Petroso Bridge 1974 was an arch bridge that was located across a deep gorge along the original A3 motorway that was completed in a Frankenstein-like fashion in bits and pieces throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Petroso Bridge was replaced in 2009 with a weathered steel beam span during a major overhaul and widening of the motorway.
Several other nearby spans that were replaced in the early 2000s include Tanagro, Lontrano, Sant'Onofrio and Favazzina beam bridges.
