One of Eastern China's earliest high bridges, the 228 meter long Shicheng arch bridge crosses a gully along the older S306 road in Fujian Province. Completed in 1998, the 120 meter span concrete reinforced arch bridge was found to have some minor damage 10 years later from wear to the bridge deck, rails, upright columns and main arch-ring. In addition there was sinking of filling at the back abutment on the Yongchun side. At the bottom of the bridge deck, there was exposure of steel bars as well as cracks and damage to expansion joints.

These issues were repaired and hopefully Shicheng Bridge will be in service for many more years to come.
