Ganxi Bridge
甘溪特大桥
Xinbazhen, Guizhou, China
820 feet high / 250 meters high
984 foot span / 300 meter span
2022
Ganxi Bridge is the second of China's great arch-beam hybrid spans that was first developed for the Beipanjiang Bridge Shuipan in the mountains west of Liupanshui, Guizhou.
The main span of the newer Ganxi Bridge is 300 meters or 10 meters longer then the Shuipan crossing. If categorized as a beam bridge this would rank among the world's 10 longest. The signature look of the unusual "open window" design is less bulky then a solid wall and the greater beam curve gives the structure a beauty more associated with arch bridges.
Ganxi Bridge has a span configuration of 18x30 +155+300+155 +2x35 meters. The deck is approximately 217 meters above a reservoir or 250 meters above the original river level.
Located just to the north is the even higher Yangbaoshan suspension bridge with a deck 360 meters high and a span of 650 meters.
