Fengdu 2 Yangtze River Bridge follows the original Fengdu city suspension bridge crossing by 20 years, opening in 2017. The giant 4-lane cable stayed bridge has a main span of 680 meters with a steel box deck approximately 90 meters above the old level of the Yangtze River which is now hidden beneath the upper reaches of the giant 3 Gorges Dam reservoir. The steel box girder is 28.5 meters wide with a deck 26.5 meters wide.
The construction of Fengdu 2 Yangtze River Bridge was delayed by a year when a crane collapsed during construction in late 2013.
