Today Gangouzi Bridge might not rank among China's 1,000 highest spans but back in 1973, long before there were any expressways in China, this prestressed concrete box shaped arch was the second highest road bridge in the country after the Tiesuo Bridge. Gangouzi held this distinction until 1977 when the Yesanhe arch bridge pushed it into third place among road bridges.
