Boligou Bridge is the first of many high bridges built in and along route X037 that were submerged from a deep reservoir that formed behind the giant Lianghekou Dam. Located at the confluence of the Yalong, Xianshi and Qingda River, the 295 meter high embankment dam is one of the 10 tallest in the world when completed in 2021.
Boligou Bridge is a CFST (Concrete Filled Steel Tubular) bridge. Once the arch was closed, concrete was pumped into the main arch rib tubes from the bottom up. Once hardened, the concrete solidifies and stiffens the arch, improving the compressive strength of the entire structure.
The 247 meter long bridge has approach spans of 3 x 13 meters and one of 20 meters.
